DUB - 3 Villen in Ajman
Entwicklung einer Entwurfsstudie für eine Villa in Ajman basierend auf der Typologie der Kombination dreier Hofstrukturen mit umlaufenden Nutzungen.
„Embracing Tents"
The design of the embracing tents is based on three courtyards. Each connected to the other two yards through a central lobby. The private and the public courtyards are roofed with glas, but can be opened on demand. Around these courtyards all the different uses are arranged: Dining rooms, Iwan, lounges, cinema, library etc. An outdoor courtyard connected to the indoor-pool offers a variety of pools and leisure facilities. On the upper level, the private appartments are arranged, surr-ounding the courtyards. The overall concept of the building is to embrace spaces of different degress of privacy with bended concrete walls with stone cladding.
„Twisted"
The building consists of two twining and slowly raising platforms: Private and Public. The higher the resident or the visitor ascends, the more intimate and private the spaces become. To the outside, the facades are either fully glazed or protected against the sun with horizontal natural stone bars, or completely closed to the outside with ornament cut into the natural stone. The building is floating above two pools, partially protecting the users. The building-complex takes the whole site in possession, creating public and private, roofed and open spaces, depending on he wishes of the residents. Outside becomes inside, and inside becomes outside.
„Courtyardhouse"
In the style of a traditional arabian courtyard-house, the design aims to arrange the different uses of the building around 5 courtyards. Each opened to the sky, but possible to close depending on the weather. These courtyards are connected via lanes, allowing different views to the sky, to the outside and to other parts of the building, following traditional urban design in arabian countries. The building is using traditional cooling-methods by trying to be as compact as possible and by using the courtyards as a way of cooling. The massive stone-building with small windows to the outside is surrounded by a slim glas-Facade. The glas-panels consist of two layers with laser-cut metal ornaments in between. This enables privacy and gives the building a fascinating mystic look
