Many cities and especially suburban developments in Europe suffer from similar problems. As a consequence of increasing wealth an increasing number of people are able to realize their dream of a house of their own. The urban sprawl has enlarged the footprint of the cities dramatically and reduced natural environment. Floating Fusion suggests the fusion of many individual prototypes, similar to detached houses, into one complex block offering a variety of different forms of living. The buildings and pathways standing on piles are raised and are floating above the landscape. The character on the low coast of Pärnu Bay is dominated by a unique marsh and sea landscape. The power and the different moods of the sea has challenged man and nature for centuries
The design proposal interprets and respects on the macro- scale the unique natural potential of the site, allows a step by step- development and reconnects the city with the sea and the sea with the city. On the micro-scale the fusion of individual "houses" into complex housing blocks offer a spatial and social density and diversity which enable inhabitants / locals and tourists a maximum of identification with their environment as a signal for a sustainable development for the whole region.
